The book I’m reading is the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It’s a story about a girl named Katniss Everdean who volunteers to participate in the hunger games instead of her younger sister. The hunger games are survival games held one a year. Two participants from each of the 12 districts compete in to survive.
In Chapters 1 through 3, katniss goes out hunting to take care of her family with her friend and talk about running away. After that katniss her sister primrose and her mom go to town square to watch the names be picked for the hunger games. Primrose name is picked and katniss volunteers instead to protect her sister. The second person chosen is peeta. Peeta is in katniss’s grade and helped her once by throwing her burnt bread that he was supposed to feed to the pigs. Katniss is brought into a room to say her goodbyes and she talks to her family. She makes her mom promise not to fall apart again. Peetas father promised not to let prim starve and gale said he would help support her family.
The first three chapters of the book show me that katniss is a strong young women, who is very protective of her family. She would rather put her life on the line then let her sister and it’s very noble of her. She takes care of her family and does whatever she can for them.
Your chance to rant, rave, and talk about the books you are reading. It's obvious we are a family of readers...this is our trainwreck of a dog, Roxy, that my daughter likes to dress up...she is now named "Harry Pooper"
