The Lost Causes of Bleak Creek pages 83-214

In pages 83-214 in The Lost Causes of Bleak Creek, we are introduced to a new character named Janine who is in town visiting her grandma to interview her. She thought she'd be making a documentary on kidney stones but she wasn't ready for what this was actually going to turn into. Janine's cousin came over to visit and it gives us a background on how close her cousin Donna used to be with her, but how there was a point where Donna stopped answering her letters and started acting completely not like herself.Janine’s Grandma makes Donna give her a ride to the pizza place where Donna works to interview big Gary about his kidney stones.  big Gary in the middle of the interview went to check on Tommy one of his employees because Rex and Lief walked in. Janine started to ask Donna questions about what happened with her but as soon as they were getting anywhere big Gary came back and Janine told him that their interview was over. On her way out she asked what all the fuss was about with Rex and Lief being there. Big Gary then explained the whole situation with Alicia and Whitewood. Janine then decided to ask to interview the 2 boys and they agreed. Mid-interview big Gary walked by and told them that Whitewood was a great school. Janine then got defensive and ask him is her thought it was acceptable that they treated their kids so bad. He then said he only hires kids at his store who attended Whitewood. Then it hit Janine. Donna. Her documentary would no longer be kidney stones it would now all be about Whitewood reform school.
Rex and Lief were walking through the woods discussing what they wanted to do about Alicia they met a kid who appeared to be homeless. His name is Ben. He told them that if they brought him these few specific items he would show them the secrets of Whitewood School.
Alicia through all of this is in the school being a "trouble maker" in there eyes. She ends up getting caught sneaking around and gets taken out back to the shed to be punished.
Rex and Lief brought the items and Ben tells them that he escaped from Whitewood 2 weeks ago after he thought they were going to kill him. There had already been 5 deaths at the school all from fires within the past 15 years which made that intrigue, yet worry the boys. Ben took them to the Bleak Creek River where they would see something that would change their lives forever. They witnessed a cult meeting in which Ben then reveals they were trying to sacrifice him for.
Mr.Whitewood has Alicia in the shed repeatedly choking her and holding her head under water. After him asking if she was ready to listen and still no reply he held her under long enough for her life to flash before her eyes. He then brought her back up and asked her one last time if she was ready to follow directions and she said yes. He then replied with "it's too late". He dunked her under for the last time and that would be the day Alicia would pass.
When Rex and Lief found out they were completely numb to the situation. They had covered Alicia's death as a fire but Rex didn't believe that. At her funeral Rex announced that Mr. Whitewood killed Alicia. Everyone thought this was a rude, false accusation and brushed it off.

In these pages the chapters do a really good job of making you be on the edge of your seat. The wording is very mysterious yet very clear. I like how it switches in between characters and ties them together in some chapters. It sets up a new understanding of the point of view of other people looking in.
